The effect of nonlinearity in the law of magnetization of a ferrofluid on the Kelvin–Helmholtz instability
V. M. Korovin Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Mechanics
Abstract:
The Kelvin–Helmholtz instability arising when a homogeneous gas flow moves over a horizontal surface of a ferrofluid with specified physical properties moving in the same direction in the presence of an applied uniform magnetic field parallel to the velocity of the media is studied. The range of the field strength includes values corresponding to the interval in which the ferrofluid magnetization curve attains saturation. The stability region is constructed in the field strength–dimensionless relative velocity plane.
