Abstract: We prove that if a separable Banach space $Y$ contains $C[0,1]$, then $Y$ can be renormed so that the pair $(C[0,1],Y)$ has the Daugavet property with respect to narrow operators. A similar result is proved for $L_1[0,1]$.
