Abstract:
It has been demonstrated that the lateral Goos-Hänchen shift of light beams reflected and transmitted through a layered dielectric structure can be effectively controlled by the focusing (defocusing) of the incident beam. The shift of the reflected and transmitted beams depends on the curvature of the phase front of the incident beam if the spectral line of transmitted radiation is sufficiently narrow. This dependence is due to the broadening of its spatial spectrum and to the difference of the reflection (transmission) coefficients of spatial harmonics forming the beam. As a result, Goos-Hänchen shifts change strongly compared to the case of the incident beam with a plane phase front and can even change sign.
