Planetary atmospheres as detectors of thunderous neutrons signatures
L. P. Babich Russian Federal Nuclear Center All-Russia Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics, Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia
Abstract:
A possibility is discussed of observations of thunderous neutrons by their signatures as rather narrow gammaphoton bands in the near MeV energy range as a result of the neutrons radiative capture by nitrogen nuclei N$^7_{14}(n,\gamma)$N$^7_{15}$ directly in atmosphere. Peculiarities in this range of thunderous gamma-ray spectra registered in near space and at the seacoast are noted, which can be interpreted as the thunderous neutrons signatures due to the N$^7_{14}(n,\gamma)$N$^7_{15}$ reaction. It is noted, that the reaction H$^1_1(n,\gamma)$H$^1_2$ can be causal to thunderous neutrons signatures in the hydrogen-methane atmospheres of the gigantic planets of solar system.
