Abstract:
Spectroscopic studies of pure carbon tetrafluoride and carbon tetrafluoride in the presence of water vapor have been carried out. Studies have revealed changes in the absorption spectrum of the 1280 cm$^{-1}$ band of CF$_4$, indicating the formation of new molecules, CF$_4$-H$_2$O hydrates. The bond between CF$_4$ and H$_2$O is not chemical in nature. The formation of these molecules can accelerate the removal of carbon tetrafluoride from the atmosphere with precipitation in the form of rain or snow.
