Spectroscopic study of the hyperfine structure of levels of impurity Ho$^{3+}$ ions in synthetic forsterite

Abstract:
A well-resolved hyperfine structure in optical spectra of holmium-doped synthetic forsterite Mg$_2$SiO$_4$ has been detected for the first time. Crystal-field calculations have been performed for single centers of impurity Ho$^{3+}$ ions and dimers in forsterite Mg$_2$SiO$_4$.
