Abstract:
Analysis of optical properties of mid-infrared-transparent nonlinear crystals reveals octave phase matching for a highly efficient optical parametric amplification of single-cycle electromagnetic field waveforms within the 3- to 12-$\mu$m wavelength range, recently demonstrated in experiments.
