Abstract:
It has been found that the excitation of silver ions by ultraviolet radiation in GeO22–Eu22O33–Ag and SiO22–Eu22O33–Ag films is accompanied by the weakening of silver-ion-sensitized luminescence of Eu3+3+ ions. The degree and rate of such weakening vary in wide ranges depending on the nature of the matrix, thermal treatment temperature, and energy of an exciting photon. The revealed effect has been explained by the photoinduced charge exchange of silver ions in complex Ag–Eu centers.
