Abstract:
The well-known fact of magnetic ordering in ultrathin Co films (with an effective thickness of several monoatomic layers) on a single-crystal Cu(110) substrate is described quantitatively using the model according to which the thin film is a lattice of three-dimensional ferromagnetic grains with dipole-dipole interactions. The critical film thickness corresponding to the ferromagnetic transition and the corresponding Curie temperature were calculated.
