Direct observation of intracluster reactions induced in (CF$_3$I)$_n$ clusters by femtosecond ultraviolet radiation

Abstract:
Intracluster reactions that are induced in (CF$_3$I)$_n$ clusters by femtosecond ultraviolet radiation, including the reaction of the formation of the I$^+_2$ molecular ion, have been directly observed. It has been shown that there are two channels of the formation of I$^+_2$ ions with the characteristic times $\tau_1\approx1$ ps and $\tau_2\approx7$ ps. A model of these reactions has been proposed that is in good agreement with the experimental data.
