Abstract:
The calorimetric studies of a quasi-liquid layer on the surface of ice have been performed. The activation energy in the thermal generation of the quasi-liquid layer has been determined. The gravitational draining of the quasi-liquid layer over an ice surface has been detected. The transition of the quasi-liquid layer to granules of a hydrophilic material, which is accompanied by the energy release, has been revealed.
