Abstract:
The structural and composition characteristics of cadmium-mercury telluride solid solutions grown by the molecular beam epitaxy method have been investigated. It has been found that the x-ray diffraction method and energy dispersion microanalysis give the cadmium-content values in a solid solution differing by more than 10%. This difference is attributed to the compression of the crystal lattice due to a high density of point defects--mercury vacancies.
