A method for separating statistical data for a mixture of two distributions using the example of the results of measuring the volumetric activity of radon
V. G. Polosin, S. V. Tertychnaya Penza State University, Penza
Abstract:
The paper discusses the reasons for the simultaneous overlap of two different statistical distributions in the presence of several sources of radon exhalation located in the studied territory of Penza. The authors of the work proposed an additive model for describing a mixture of several distributions, considered a method for determining the components of a mixture of an exhalation source and estimating the parameters of the model based on the analysis of statistical results of measuring its volumetric activity. It is shown that the estimation of the information entropy contained in the measurement results makes it possible to effectively separate statistical data for a mixture of two distributions.
