Abstract: The main types and characteristics of legal information systems existing in the Russian Federation are considered. Two classes of systems are described: information legal systems and intelligent computer legal consulting systems. The conclusion is made that intelligent systems are free from a number of disadvantages of legal information computer systems. It is shown that the development and application of intelligent computer legal systems is a progressive and high-tech task at the intersection of information technology and legislation.
