Abstract: This paper gives an introduction to using the grid technology for distributed data storage. There are many different technologies of grid systems deployment for geographically distributed data storages and distributed computation purposes. One of these technologies, gLite middleware is described in this paper. The architecture, the functioning, and the main gLite services are presented here.
