Development and application of a numerical algorithm for equations in unbounded region

Abstract:
This work is devoted to thermo-mechanical modeling of the welding process. We use a 2D model, taking account of phase transitions and the temperature dependence of the material properties. The model includes the equilibrium equations for the medium and the thermo-conductivity equation of a special kind. These equations are solved using the FEM algorithm. The algorithm was programmed and it was tested on model problems. The simulation results for the heating of the plate with a moving Gaussian heat source are provided as well.
