Overlapping genes and structure of a genetic code
N. N. Kozlov
Abstract:
The unusual natural phenomena always involved the researchers of its mystery. One of the similar phenomena — the overlapped genes which were opened in 1976 became a subject of mathematical researches of the author. The overlapping genes — are cases of record, when the same site of DNA two and more (theoretically — up to six) protein sequences are coded. The prime task consisted in an estimation of potential of a genetic code, which can be used by a nature for construction of 5 possible cases of overlap of pairs of genes. During the decision of such task the property of a genetic code was revealed unknown earlier which contains in its structure in an implicit kind. The analysis of this property has resulted to unknown earlier to approach in a problem of “choice” of a genetic code during evolution, and also to an establishment of general property all known on today natural codes (them 15). The functional importance of codons reassignment or codons rejecting a code from its standard structure is also shown.
