The influence of Stark effect on spectral characteristics of hot dense plasma
A. F. Nikiforov, V. G. Novikov, N. N. Fimin
Abstract:
The effect of spectral line broadening under influence of ion microfield (Stark effect) may be important in opacity calculations for hot dense plasma. The method of Stark-effect accounting in quasi-static approximation is based on the diagonalization of multilevel Hamiltonian in one-electron approach. The distribution of ion microfield is obtained by using the perturbed independent particles model. Method is suitable both for low- and high-Z elements. The consideration is based on the relativistic Hartree-Fock-Slater model. Calculations are carried out with using the code THERMOS, developed at the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics. A comparison of line profiles, spectral opacities and Rosseland free paths with the well-known H.Griem's and other results, obtained with the help of different codes, were made.
