The opportunities of web-analysis to estimate the effectiveness of scientific publications

Abstract:
The work is devoted to the use of web-analytics methods for evaluation the effectiveness of scientific publications on the Internet. A general idea of the methods for collecting and analyzing data used in web analytics is given, a comparative overview of the most popular software solutions is presented. The issues of using web analytics methods for websites of scientific organizations are discussed. On the example of the IPM RAS website, practical issues of building a web analytics system based on the analysis of log file data are considered. The problem of filtering requests from robots to correctly determine the attendance metrics of scientific Internet resources is discussed.
