Selection principle for preferred convective structures in liquids near the stability threshold with non-uniform thermal conductivity

Abstract:
The paper deals with differences in selection principle for stable convective structures in a fluid with thermal conductivity varying with height or temperature. Analysis is based on weakly non-linear technique and interpretation of non-linear part of heat diffusion term as a heat source.
