X-FEM algorithm with closest point projection fracture representation

Abstract: In this work we consider a variant of X-FEM method which uses representation of fracture surface based on closest point projection method. The algorithm description is provided and its differences from the classical variants of X-FEM which utilize fracture representation based on level set approach. Simulation results which demonstrate efficiency of the proposed approach are presented.
