New lane changing algorithms for microscopic model of traffic flows based on cellular automata theory
A. A. Chechina
Abstract:
New “cooperative driver” algorithm for mathematical model of traffic flows, based on cellular automata theory, is presented in the preprint. Algorithm allows to depict cooperation between drivers, if an obstacle, such as, for instance, a road bottleneck, appears on the road. In this case, under certain circumstances, drivers from the free lane can give way to the drivers from the lane with an obstacle. Different decision-making strategies about changing lanes are shown.
Computational results of test calculations for different types of obstacles, as well as the comparison with computations carried out without “cooperative driver” algorithm, are adduced.
