Abstract:
This paper presents a new solution to the tone mapping problem for HDR video sequences. Brief overview of existing algorithms as well as methods for tone mapping quality assessment is presented. We compare tone mapping algorithms for photos and select the best one as a baseline. This algorithm is modified for application to video. Also, we propose an objective flickering metric that allows to evaluate the degree of temporal distortion of different algorithm modifications. On the basis of the metric values a number of modifications are proposed, which allows to reduce the flickering.
