Transverse piezo- and pyroelectric effects in 2D nanoallotropes of boron nitride caused by the ripple formation

Abstract:
It is shown that the formation of ripples in the structure of 2D nanoallotropes of boron nitride leads to the occurrence of transverse piezo- and pyroelectric effects in them with temperature-dependent coefficients. The value of these coefficients for various 2D nanoallotropes is calculated. It has been shown that due to the low height of the ripples, the transverse piezoeffect in the considered nanoallotropes is three orders of magnitude weacker, while the pyroelectric effect is quite comparable to that in fluoragraphanes and can find practical application.
