Urbach rule and estimation of the energy gap width in molybdates

Abstract:
The temperature dependence of the fundamental absorption edge in molybdates CaMoO$_{4}$, SrMoO$_{4}$, PbMoO$_{4}$, Pb$_{2}$MoO$_{5}$, and MgMoO$_{4}$ has been studied. The dependences are approximated using the Urbach formula. Parameter $E_0$ obtained as a result of the approximation is shown can be used to estimate the energy gap width in the molybdates.
