Velocity of propagation of combustion front on surface of polymethyl methacrylate with normal and crown flames
N. N. Bachman, I. N. Lobanov Moscow
Abstract:
The velocity of propagation of a flame, $w$, along the surface of flat or cylindrical samples of a polymer depends on the angle of inclination, $\varphi$, of the surface to the horizontal [1]. (Bibliography is given in [1].) According to [1], the increase in $w$ with the increase in $\varphi$ is due to the increase in the contribution of natural convection to the heat transfer from the flame to the unignited polymer.
