Abstract:
Results are provided for a study of heating annular welded joints in steel pipes where the temperature gradient in the weld is provided by heating the pipe with various types of pyrotechnic compounds. An estimate is made of the nature of burning of compounds and their heat emission. It is shown that the level of residual stresses in a pipe after pyrotechnic treatment of a welded joint may be considerably reduced compared with the original condition.
