Abstract: The process of phase separation of products of the interaction of high-temperature metallothermic mixtures was analyzed with consideration of the finite propagation velocity of the combustion front. A conclusion is made about the self-accelerating character of the given process. The concept of an induction period of phase separation is introduced. Its mathematical expression was obtained for the case when the time of coalescence of the metal drops exceeds the time of their formation.
