Abstract:
Mathematical modeling is used to investigate the consequences of an vapor-air cloud which is formed from an accidental spill and evaporation of fuel. It is shown that, for large-scale spills (on the order of hundreds of tons), an intense convection flow is initiated due to a fireball and destroys objects found in the accident zone. This approach makes it possible to estimate the magnitude of the spill from observable hydrodynamic consequences of the catastrophe and to increase the reliability of the conclusions of the accident investigation.
