Maximum explosion pressure for rich methane-oxygen mixtures

Abstract: The maximum pressures achieved during the self-ignition of a 2CH$_4$+O$_2$ mixture in a closed heated vessel at initial pressures of 11, 16, 21, 26, and 31 atm are measured. Experimental data are compared with thermodynamic calculations based on the principle of conservation of gas density during the combustion.
