Modeling of transition from regular structure of cellular gas detonation front to irregular one

Abstract:
The results of theoretical description of transition from the regular structure of a gas detonation wave to the irregular one are presented. The governing parameter is determined on the basis of an original model. Upon exceeding the critical value of this parameter, the solution which simulates the pulsating cellular wave front goes over from describing the regular cyclic (quasistationary) regime to describing the aperiodic one at which the cells begin to substantially differ in size. The criterion formulated is in good qualitative and quantitative agreement with the experimental data.
