Abstract: The nucleation of explosive processes in a mixture of unburnt gas with combustion products is considered at the qualitative level. The mechanism proposed is confirmed experimentally by means of schlieren cine recordings of detonation in such a mixture. The experimental results cannot be explained on the basis of the gradient mechanism of detonation.
