Physical and chemical transformations of Al–Al$_3$O$_3$ droplets in an active gas flow

Abstract:
Results from a systematic experimental study of a number of phenomena involved in the evolution of the condensed phase of the combustion products from solid fuels are used to develop a physical and mathematical model for this process. Use of an optimization procedure for determining the matching coefficients in the model makes it possible to obtain good agreement with experimental data. This demonstrates the comparatively high quality of the model and ensures that the characteristics of the two-phase flow can be predicted.
