Electrical response of a piezoelectric polymer film to shock compression

Abstract:
A model is presented for the electrical response of a polymeric electret in one-dimensional shock-wave loading, which incorporates nonlinear effects in the response. Polyvinylidede fluoride is used to show that the model gives qualitative and quantitative interpretation of experiments on such response up to pressures in one-dimensional shock compression of 60 GPa.
