Abstract:
Burning has been examined on the 0.5 Y$_2$O$_3$ + (2-$\beta$)ВаO$_2$ + $\beta$ВаСO$_3$ + $\alpha$Cu$\overset{\mathrm{O}_2}\to$ system for various oxygen pressures. The value of $\alpha$ determines whether the process accelerates or dies away. An explanation is proposed. Adding BaCO$_3$ as a gasifying additive enables one to avoid extensive melting and reduces the maximum temperature. The main reaction products have been identified. SHS with gasifying additive has made it possible to synthesize the tetra phase of the high-temperature superconductor Y$_{123}$, whose temperature of transition to the superconducting state $T_c$ is dependent on the amount of additive used.
