Ignition of a highly exothermic mixture on a steel substrate in an electromagnetic field

Abstract:
Ignition in an electromagnetic field has been examined from theory and by experiment for a highly exothermic mixture on a steel substrate. Various initiation states can occur in accordance with the electromagnetic power. Numerical and approximate analyses are compared with experiment. The proposed mechanism fits within the theory of thermal ignition and enables one to optimize self-propagating synthesis coating.
