Abstract:
Combustion-wave propagation in a gas with suspended droplets has been studied. Dependences of steady flame-propagation velocity on aerosol parameters are obtained. The range of aerosol parameters in which the aerosol's effect on combustion-wave propagation is most significant is found. Dependences of the critical value of the parameter that characterizes the external heat removal at the flame-quenching point on aerosol parameters are obtained and compared with similar dependences for a suspension of inert particles in a combustible gas. For relatively small dispersed-phase particles, the critical values of the heat-removal parameter for aerosols were found to be lower than those for a gas suspension. As the size of the dispersed-phase particles increases, the critical heat-removal values at the flame-quenching point become equal.
