Quasi-homogeneous modeling of boron combustion in dry air

Abstract:
The properties of a kinetic model of boron combustion in dry air are refined on the basis of a previously developed procedure of quasihomogeneous description of heterogeneous-homogeneous processes. The behavior of nonequilibrium thermodynamic fractions of the elementary stages of the mechanism is studied over a wide range of process parameters. It is shown that nonequilibrium thermodynamic fractions can be used to determine combustion regimes and the importance of elementary reactions, to reduce the mechanism, and to perform a sensitivity analysis based on it. The limits and possibilities of application of the model in the given stage of construction of it are determined. The numerical-simulation results obtained agree with experimental data. No noticeable nonstandard changes in the behavior of kinetic curves with variation in the parameters are detected.
