Abstract:
We have found that the initial temperature of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in the titanium-nickel system is decreased after treatment in high-energy mixing devices, for example, attritors. This decrease is caused by formation of conglomerates from titanium and nickel powders firmly bound over the interphase surfaces and powder strain-hardening. The titanium nickelide-based technology for production of alloys for medicine and engineering has been optimized.
