Abstract:
A simple method for decreasing the temperature of specimens in shock-wave treatment of solid porous substances has been developed. The essence of the method consists in filling the specimen with liquid paraffin. The experimental results show that the treatment of anatase filled with liquid paraffin leads to the formation of the high-pressure $\beta$-TiO$_2$ phase, and without paraffin, rutile is formed.
