Effect of temperature, density, and technical factors on the shock-wave sensitivity of plastic TATB

Abstract:
Results are presented from a study of the shock-wave sensitivity of plastic TATB over a wide range of temperatures. It is shown that the temperature dependence of the shock-wave sensitivity of this explosive material is explained to a great extent by the change in density owing to thermal expansion, and by relaxation processes that occur in the samples.
