Abstract:
Critical combustion conditions were investigated for compressed titanium specimens concerning the specimen density and the oxygen concentration in a O$_2$ – Ar mixture. It was shown that there is a minimum specimen density at which combustion characteristics undergo a significant change. The completeness of combustion monotonically decreases with increase in density. Possible causes of the observed phenomena are considered.
