Mechanism of interaction of ÂàÎ and ÌîÎ$_3$ in a combustion wave

Abstract: Results of an experimental investigation of the mechanism of interaction of BaO and MoO$_3$ in a combustion wave are reported. It is shown that a necessary stage of the interaction is the sublimation of MoO$_3$. Thermal and x-ray phase analyses suggest a multistep scheme for the interaction of the oxides, in which the formation of an instable intermediate phase plays an important part.
