Abstract:
From a brief review of published combustion models for energetic materials, it follows that considerable modeling efforts have been directed toward a more accurate description of gas-phase processes. It is often assumed that gas-phase reactions play a dominant role in burning rate control. At the same time, more and more arguments have emerged suggesting a dominant role of condensed-phase processes for a number of the most widely used homogeneous propellants in the rocket range of pressures. However, serious problems remain in the modeling of such combustion regimes. A solution of these problems is proposed.
