Investigation of the structure of a СН$_4$/N$_2$–О$_2$/N$_2$ counterflow diffusion flame using molecular beam and microprobe mass spectrometry

Abstract:
The possibility of using molecular beam mass spectrometry (MBMS) to study the structure of counterflow flames was shown by the example of a СН$_4$/N$_2$–О$_2$/N$_2$ flame. The thermal structure of the flame was studied, and the CH$_4$, O$_2$, and CO$_2$ concentration distributions were measured using a microprobe technique and MBMS. The results of the measurements performed by the two methods were compared. The MBMS technique was used to study the hydroxyl concentration distribution in the flame. The species concentrations and temperature profiles on the burner axis were calculated.
