Calculation of the velocity of sound behind the shock-wave front in condensed media

Abstract: A method is proposed to calculate the velocity of sound behind the shock-wave front in condensed media. The method requires only the shock adiabat of the substance to be known. The calculated results are compared with available experimental data. Reasonable agreement is demonstrated.
