Properties of the surface layer and combustion behavior of metallized solid propellants
V. A. Babuk Baltic State Technical University, St.-Petersburg, Russia, 190005
Abstract:
The properties of the surface layer of burning metallized solid propellants are analyzed on the basis of available experimental data. A general physical concept of processes in the surface layer is developed. The structure called a skeleton layer is shown to play a key role in combustion. The factors influencing the properties of the skeleton layer are determined, and the effect of these of properties on the properties of condensed combustion products and the propellant burning-rate law is studied.
