Abstract:
The ignition of a semitransparent reactive material (thermite) by a light pulse of millisecond duration for various radii of the irradiation spot was investigated numerically and experimentally. The variation in the temperature field in the material is analyzed, and the limiting ignition energy parameters and the effect exerted on them by of the radial size of the irradiation spot are found. Results of numerical and experimental studies are compared which each other and with the results of approximate theoretical studies of other authors.
Keywords:
condensed reactive material light beam, irradiation spot, ignition, threshold radiation energy density.
