Abstract: The problem of propagation of TE-polarized electromagnetic waves in a dielectric layer is considered. The waves existing in the structure under study are classified. It is rigorously proved that, in the dielectric layer, there are no surface complex TE waves, but there are infinitely many complex leaky TE waves.
