Automated control systems

On optimal monitoring time of an industrial process where the product quality is unknown

V. A. Andriyanov, I. A. Kogan, G. A. Umnov

Saratov, Moscow
Abstract: The paper is concerned with monitoring of a batch process with an unknown random product quality. The monitoring process is represented as a Markov chain. In each state a decision is made whether the monitoring should be continuous with the loss function specified. For a linear cost model a recurrence method is proposed whereby to find the optimal observation time with subsequent making of a final decision.
